The BusinessAn international creative technology company specialising in illuminated visual design, immersive experiences, architectural lighting, stereoscopy and R&D based product development. With offices in London, Paris and New York this studio work with the biggest names in fashion, culture and brand experience such as, Beyonce, Alexander McQueen and Elton John to name three.The JobYou will join the company as an Architectural Lighting Designer working closely with the Architectural Lighting and Production Lighting Team in the design and development of architectural lighting elements.Assisting the Director/ Senior Lighting Designer you will offer conceptual approaches for projects and undertake lighting calculations for various layouts, delivering on milestones from concept to delivery.Tasks and Responsibilities• Attend meetings and be a part of the information flow within various departments, in regard to each the project.• Design and develop perspective sketches.• Develop lighting calculation plots.• Provide information and presentations for client reviews and workshop.• Contribute to development of the Final Project Brief.• Input into clients’ design programme.• Provide outline specifications.• Along with other members of the creative team, find solutions to all unexpected issues faced during the creative process, production and delivery.• Be aware, and input into project submission of statutory approvals.• Be aware of the development of lighting for all areas of a building or structure including but not limited to interior and exterior lighting.This role is office based in Cardiff with occasional travel to the London office for specific project requirements.Candidate Requirements• 1+ years’ experience in lighting design.• Educated t5o degree level with a preference for subjects relating to Architecture, Architectural Technology, Lighting Design or other relevant disciplines.• Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.• Great people skills, able to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible way. • Comfortable working in a collaborative way is vitally important for this role. • Methodical approach to problem solving. • Approachable personality, with a "can do" attitude.• Desirable for some commercial experience ideally previously working in an Architectural, Interior Design or Construction company. • Working knowledge of design software such as Indesign, Photoshop or AutoCad.Bonus Points For• A background or prior work experience in Theatre, Entertainment, Architecture or Construction. • Knowledge of software such as Revit, Dialux Evo or Relux.
