Job Description

The superior performance of these materials is resulting in expanding applications, driven by the roll out of 5G and proliferation of connected devices.With 30 years of experience in these advanced materials, unique IP and know-how, an enviable market share, established supply chain relationships and having invested in significant relevant production capacity, IQE is uniquely placed to capitalise on this market growth in the coming years.The RoleTo provide a Test Planning and Assurance service to the business unit in order to improve the predictability of testing outcomes. The test manager is responsible for driving high quality testing, leadership and direction for the undertaking of testing within the business unit.This is to be achieved by ensuring that appropriate test approaches are applied with IQE and 3rd party responsibilities clearly identified, with quantified coverage targets determined at an early stage and structured test estimates developed.The test manager will be the subject matter expert for the provision of tools, methodology and approaches which drive the management and control of the various phases of testing as well as supporting elements of testing such as Load Test. They will manage the requirements for suitable test environments and working with IT ensure that these are set up appropriately for test execution.ResponsibilitiesFor Testing Delivery within IQE:

  • To provide authoritative advice and guidance to colleagues on any aspect of testing, owning test processes and providing support and advice to teams on the implementation of those processes ;
  • To maintain an up to date knowledge about testing methodologies, approaches and advances and proposing process improvement initiatives with supporting business cases;
  • To lead, create and maintain Test Strategies covering all test activity by IQE and 3rd parties;
  • To create and maintain Risk Profiles, ensuring that any risks associated with the agreed test strategy and test plans are clearly documented;
  • Use Risk Profiles to identify coverage targets and drive consensus on these across the key stakeholder groups and recommend action when any risks become unacceptable;
  • To ensure that procedures, templates and documentation are maintained to appropriate quality standards;
  • To create Estimates that are consistent with coverage;
  • To handover Strategies, Coverage Targets and Estimates to the software system manager for the management and coordination of the execution of testing;
  • To monitor and assure the software system manager delivery, facilitating the resolution of issues when required.

  • Create and maintain Test Asset Register
  • Create and maintain Tools Strategy
  • Create and maintain Environment Strategy and Test Data Strategy
  • Create and maintain Test Resource Plan (Demand vs Supply)
  • Own the Regression Strategy for key applications i.e. MES, NAV, LIME
    • Experience
  • Experience in a test management role for more than 5 years
  • Experience in Semiconductor / Manufacturing is desirable.
    • Skills
  • Good understanding of IQE business process;
  • ISTQB Qualified
  • Experience of testing both desktop and web applications.
  • Experience of testing tools such as Ranorex, Selenium & Xray.
  • A working knowledge of Microsoft SQL.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of Testing methodologies, approaches and products and how they can be applied;
  • Excellent relationship management skills leading to developing credibility with key stakeholders within the business and other stakeholder groups;
  • Good written and oral communication and stakeholder management skills in order to build consensus, in particular to be able to drive agreement on test coverage where time and budget are limited;
  • Strong supplier and 3rd party performance monitoring;
  • Experience of working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment with the ability to coach and mentor individuals;
  • Workshop facilitation
  • Able to develop structured estimates;
  • Able to apply quality assurance and standards to test deliverable completion;
  • Able to apply the above to create pragmatic test strategies and test coverage targets that will mitigate business risk;
  • Delivery of end-to-end business process testing, including non-functional elements, within a complex and fast moving business environment.
