Job Description

Due to growth and internal changes, my client is looking to strengthen their finance team.Client DetailsMy client are a Financial Services business that are growing from strength to strength and are the market leader in their field in the UK.DescriptionThis is a fantastic opportunity for an ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified Accountant to join this rapidly growing Financial Services business in Cardiff.Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Statutory Accounting Manager will be a pivotal plays within the team and lead on the Financial Reporting for the organisation.Key responsibilities include statutory reporting & external audit, regulatory reporting, tax compliance and support on technical accounting matters and adhoc projects.Responsible for driving external reporting function forward and ensuring best practice is met.The role will include;Statutory accounts, Tax & technical accounting

  • Responsible for the preparation of the business and subsidiaries statutory accounts and ensuring regulatory and statutory deadlines are met
  • Implement and manage a new financial system for preparation of statutory accounts and ensure integrity of system is maintained
  • Responsible for managing external audit
  • Responsible for preparing and managing external advisors for tax computations and planning and meeting its tax obligations
  • Support financial control team for month end accounting, new transactions and on technical accounting matters
  • Contact for technical accounting queries across the business and producing relevant accounting papers / audit committee papers.
  • Validation and evaluation of critical accounting estimates e.g. IFRS9 impairment provisions, effective interest rate, hedge accounting, fair value assessments of loan portfolios, accounting derecognition of loan portfolios.
    • Regulatory Reporting
  • Responsible for the integrity and accuracy of regulatory reporting to the FCA and any other regulatory bodies.
  • Key contact in the development and delivery of the Regulatory reporting environment for the business and Subsidiaries
  • Ensure that the business and subsidiaries meets its regulatory obligations
  • Responsible for managing the finance departments risk management reporting and controls
    • ProfileThe ideal candidate will be;A qualified Accountant holiding ACA, ACCA or CIMA (this would be a great opportnity for an Assistant manager or manager within Big 4 looking for their 1st move into industry)You will have Financial Services experience gained in Audit or IndustryKnowledge
  • Consolidated statutory accounts (under IFRS)
  • Excellent IFRS knowledge, particularly IFRS9.
  • Significant experience of investigating technical accounting queries within a commercial environment
  • Exposure to complex accounting structures e.g securitisations
  • Exposure to and practical knowledge of taxation matters, both direct and indirect
  • Understanding of regulatory reporting preparation and submissions

  • Drive and attention to detail, with a "hands on" approach
  • Strong analytical skills, including complex formulae in Excel.
  • Ability to form productive relationships at all levels.
  • Forward thinking, Organisation & planning, seeking efficiencies and improvements in activities
