Cloud and DBA EngineerLocation: Cardiff or BangorAbout the organisationTheir responsibility is to look after Wales natural resources and what they provide: to help reduce the risk to people and property from flooding and pollution; to look after special places for well-being, wildlife and timber; and to work with others to help manage them sustainably. The people who work within the organisation have the knowledge, expertise and enthusiasm to help make sure they manage natural resources sustainably.Cloud and DBA Engineer accountabilities:You’ll be the technical lead for database technologies, ensuring the health and availability of databases and systems in line with ICT governance. To make sure that all incidents and service requests are resolved within set service level agreements and at a high standard. You’ll have the ability to offer escalation routes for technical issues and advise Engineers, Analysts and anyone else within the team.This role will require you to lead, define and plan proactive maintenance tasks including routine upgrades of services, develop and release application patches and work with external partners to ensure that all service level agreements are met with regards to application issues.Key Requirements and experience:• Microsoft SQL, Oracle and PostgresSQL databases• Previous experience working within an Azure Environment• ETL, SSRS and SSIS data warehousing• Implementing backup and recovery strategies • Knowledge of ITIL service management framework• VSTS and Visual Studio or similar• Application lifecycle methodologies • Incident, problem, change and release management processesWhat’s on offer…• Annual leave of 28 days, increasing to 33 days over five years (excluding bank holidays)• A generous public sector pension scheme based on average career earnings• A range of flexible working options including flexi-time – these will depend on business needs but the aim is to help achieve a positive work / life balance• Occupational health benefits, including counselling and eye care services
