Job Description

CDO / HEAD OF DATA CARDIFF, WALES - HYBRID£95,000 - £105,000 - NON FOR PROFITCompanyThis non-for-profit business works closely with the government and public sector to provide an invaluable resource to the Welsh population. They are on the cusp of receiving a large amount of funding to help build out the data function here, and they needyou to come in and help guide this strategy!TeamThe Head of Data role will be responsible for a team of 45 people, including data governance, data engineering, data science, business intelligence, automation, and data architecture teams. The team is critical to the business and this has been recognizedby the C-suite.ProjectsThe team is currently working on a number of projects, including:

  • Delivering a real-time spill map to be launched in January
  • Consolidating the data platform within a cloud platform
  • Using data science tools and methods to build models and introduce MLOps concepts
  • Focusing on reporting for the predictive modeling projects that the data science team works on
  • Starting to use robotic process automation (RPA) methods in the automation team
  • Launching a data literacy initiative to broaden skills across the team
ResponsibilitiesThe Head of Data will be responsible for:
  • Leading the data team and developing a strategic vision for data at the company
  • Working with stakeholders across the business to ensure that data is used effectively to support decision-making
  • Overseeing the development and implementation of data governance, data engineering, data science, business intelligence, automation, and data architecture solutions
  • Managing the teams budget and resources
  • Ensuring that the team is aligned with the companys overall goals and objectives
