Job Description

  • We are developing a complicated business model, and therefore the candidate needs to be someone who fully understands the Corporate vision and this feeds into companies operating within a group structure - we work as a individual company but also supportother companies within the group structure such as the development company.
  • The candidate needs to be a strong leader with considerable experience in the social housing sector at a senior level, and good understanding of Governance, Management and Development functions.
  • They need to know the key statutory, regulatory and operational requirements that will enable us to operate within a group structure effectively - someone that has led a small organisation that has scaled up
  • Must have a good understanding of how we need to managing risks and establish robust internal controls
  • Need to be effective communicator - we need to come across more corporate. It need to be some who can communicate effectively with the board, investors, regulator, funders and other stakeholders - including tenants/residents. Its all about positive relationships and in terms of funders they need to have confidence that the period leading theorganisation is protecting their investment.
  • The need to be able support the board in developing a viable business plan - this means ensuring Major HA does not put itself or its assets at risk in delivering the wider corporate vision
  • Performance and Quality Management - they need to under the key performance indicators and have the ability to develop action plans to address any areas of poor performance and standards - this is a must. This include good understanding of financial performance.
  • Management - they will be responsible for managing a small team of front line officers.
  • Other dimensions to consider - is Health & Safety, Data Protection, Finance Regulations and Customer Services- they dont need to be experts but need to understand our responsibilities and where we could be challenged.
  • Ideally we need someone with professional qualifications and significant career in social housing and is politically aware.
  • Explore new business opportunities for the RP on the direction of the shareholders.
  • Our ideal candidate is someone trained as an accountant - as they will more likely have the commercial knowledge we are seeking.
