Job Description

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and skilled 3rd Line Support Specialist to join their dynamic IT team at their office in Birgmingham. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in bespoke application support, proficiency in SQL Server queries,and a keen interest in either Business Intelligence (BI) reporting or SQL Server administration. This role presents an exciting opportunity for an individual looking to deepen their expertise in these areas while contributing to the enhancement of their supportservices and reporting capabilities.Key Responsibilities:

    • Provide expert-level support for our bespoke applications, addressing customer queries and issues promptly and effectively.
    • Collaborate with 2nd line support to investigate and resolve complex technical problems.
    • Develop and execute SQL Server queries to analyse and extract data for troubleshooting and reporting purposes.
    • Optimize database queries to improve overall system performance.
    • Contribute to the development and improvement of our reporting suite, with a focus on BI reporting tools.
    • Prepare for the integration of PowerBI support, actively participating in the implementation and enhancement of reporting capabilities.
    • Assist in SQL Server administration tasks, with a particular focus on performance tuning.
    • Monitor and analyse database performance, identifying and resolving bottlenecks.
    • Proactively identify areas for improvement in the support process and reporting suite.
    • Collaborate with the development team to suggest and implement enhancements to the application based on customer feedback.

Requirements:
  • Proven experience in 2nd or 3rd line Support Specialist roles, with a focus on bespoke applications.
  • Proficiency in SQL Server queries and database administration.
  • Familiarity with BI reporting tools; experience with PowerBI is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with customers and internal teams.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
