Job Description

Property Maintenance Handyman (Co. Van included)Meyer Scott Ref: VR/08632Salary: £34,000 p.a.Location: SwaveseyType: PermanentMonday to Friday - 7.30am to 4.30pm - 30 mins lunch breakOur client procures, develop, lease, and manage commercial properties in the UK. They own all their premises, many of which are in prime sites. This well-established business based well-appointed offices in the countryside manage residential, student roomsand a wide variety of commercial and retail premises.Reporting to the Maintenance Manager. This position come with a company van.Purpose of the job is to be responsible for providing an external and internal property maintenance service for any Commercial, Residential or Student properties owned and managed by the company.Key Objectives of Job

  • To carry out all aspects of property maintenance, internally and externally, including the safe use of ladders, scaffolding and access equipment for working at height.
  • All maintenance staff are expected to carry out method and risk assessments to ensure safe working practices, in accordance with current Health & Safety Legislation
  • Other operations may be required to be carried out, to enable the efficient and effective running of The Maintenance Department
Main Duties & Responsibilities
  • To carry out all repairs to the fabric of the building, internally, externally and within the grounds of the properties
  • To carry out all repairs to furniture, white goods, fixtures, and fittings within the properties
  • To maintain a good van stock level of regularly used items
  • To arrange delivery/collection of materials from suppliers, in the most cost-effective manner
  • To carry out the erection and removal of To Let boards
  • Handling, planning, and preparing work in an efficient manner
  • Unblock foul water drainage systems, including unblocking sinks
  • To travel between locations in the most cost effective and timely manner
  • Ensure that all tools, equipment, and machinery are correctly maintained and serviced and that they are kept in good and safe working order
  • Keeping the company van clean and tidy, making sure all equipment and materials are stowed safely
  • Communicating with Tenants to ensure they are kept fully informed of the work being carried out in or around their homes
  • Be available to work overtime, at busy times
  • Assist with deliveries to any Commercial, Residential or Student properties.
  • Maintain the company van, making sure that it is legally and mechanically sound
  • When Grand Master Keys are not in use, after the working day, they should be stored at the key holders home
  • All issued cards (credit, fuel etc) are to be kept safe and PIN numbers are to be kept separate
  • All method and risk assessments must be carried out, to meet all current Health & Safety Legislation requirements, before, during and after work is completed
Other
  • To attend Health and Safety and other courses, to maintain a high level of training to enable work to be carried out safely, efficiently, and effectively
  • To keep accurate weekly timesheets, monthly property logs, monthly vehicle check sheets, monthly vehicle mileage sheets and job tickets.
  • All completed paperwork to be returned to The Maintenance Office in a timely fashion
  • To attend Department and Company meetings
  • Undertake any additional one off or long-term tasks and responsibilities as required to achieve the objectives of the role whilst complying with all legal requirements
  • The company reserves the right to change the purpose, objectives, duties, and responsibilities of the role to meet any changing needs of the business.
Please be aware that as a master key holder this is a position of responsibility working in peoples homes so the business will carry out a DBS check.Hours:Monday to Friday - 7.30am to 4.30pm - 30 mins lunch break
