Job Description

Temporary Sample management Lab TechnicianLife SciencesCambridgeStart ASAP until end of Jan 2024, possible extensionIm hiring for two immediately available Lab Support Technicians for a busy Life Science organisation based just outside of Cambridge.Your core role responsibilities will be:

  • Receipt of packages containing samples - efficiently and accurately logging onto the Lab Information Systems (LIMS)
  • Acting as a point of contact for sample processing both internally and externally
  • Apply barcodes to sample tubes and ensure samples are prepared and ready for processing into the Lab
  • Initial processing of blood samples to plasma for DNA extraction in the Lab
  • Supporting the Laboratory Scientists with lab husbandry tasks as directed including with set up/clean down for any experiments or sample processing, checking stock levels, lab admin and ad hoc tasks as required to support the smooth running of the Laboratory
Your background and skills:
  • BSc or equivalent in a Biology-based discipline
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Excel, LIMS and tracking databases in general
  • Experience of working in a clinical laboratory setting, ideally handling the processing of blood and tissues or other bodily fluids
  • Strong attention to detail, solutions-focused and diligent. Highly numerate and literate in both written and spoken English
  • Driving licence with access to vehicle, as the organisation are not on a public transport route over the Christmas period (you will be required onsite on Dec 27/28/29th inclusive)
