Job Description

Junior Data Engineer - HealthcareStart:Latest Beginning of MarchSalary:£up to £55kLocation: Fully remote but UK basedOur client is a solution driven consultancy to the Life Sciences Sector.Overview: We are seeking a skilled Junior Data Engineer with expertise in multi-modal Big Data using Python, preferably within the Healthcare/Pharma Space. Experience in Hematology/Oncology is a plus, but familiarity with real-world data(RWD) or Clinical Trial data (RCT) is essential. The successful candidate will contribute to thedata-driven activities, focusing on data onboarding, cleaning, integration, anonymization, and transformation to support algorithm development.Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the integrity, accessibility, and usability of diverse datasets for algorithm development.
  • Curate pathology image datasets and associated metadata, applying data anonymization tools to ensure compliance with privacy laws.
  • Communicate with vendors for data delivery oversight and build/maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Design and implement data pipelines for efficient ETL processes and Data Curation, QC, and visualization.
  • Execute cloud transfers of multi-modal data across different servers and maintain data infrastructure.
  • Ensure compliance with data governance and privacy policies under GDPR and GCDMP.
  • Programmatically ingest, curate, transform, and harmonize large datasets from diverse sources.
  • Contribute to the maintenance and optimization of data curation and anonymization scripts.
Key Skills and Experience:
  • Minimum Masters degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field, or 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with Healthcare data standards, terminology, and exposure to Common Data Models (CDM).
  • Understanding of PII data privacy and data governance under GDPR.
  • Solid programming skills in R and some experience in Python.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms, especially AWS.
  • Proficiency in Git for version control and working with gSuite.
  • Understanding of data principles frameworks (e.g., FAIR, DAMA-DMBOK, Data Ethics & Quality Principles).
  • Practical experience working with APIs and Big Data.
  • Ability to work independently, follow up on discussions, and take initiative.
  • Business fluency in English (written and spoken).
