Job Description

I am currently recruiting an interim, Head of Finance for a charity based on the outskirts of Cambridge. The role is due to start ASAP and is required to capture a handover from the outgoing head of finance and to provide cover whilst the role is recruitedon a permanent basis. It could therefore potentially become permanent. Reporting into the Finance Director, the Head of Finance will be vital member of the Finance team, with 5 direct reports and will manage the financial operations and subsidiary companies.Key responsibilities will include:

  • Prepare the annual report and accounts for the charity and its subsidiaries.
  • Manage and lead the finance team to deliver a full set of transactional accounting and financial reporting.
  • Work closely with the Management Accountant to ensure the annual budget process and forecasts align with reporting requirements.
  • Manage restricted funds and ensure processes are in place.
  • Provide financial insight and analysis to senior managers to support organisational planning, strategy development, budgets, forecasts, and performance monitoring.
  • Monitor financial risk, implement mitigations, and update risk registers accordingly.
  • Manage the annual audit process.
  • Manage the financial aspects of payroll and pensions.
  • Liaise with their outsourced payroll bureau, ensuring controls and processes are in place.
  • Coordinate tender processes for key financial services, including banking, investment managers, payroll bureau and auditors.
Interested candidates will be qualified(ACA/CIMA/ACCA). Prior working knowledge of the Charities SORP is desirable but not essential.This role is offered on a hybrid basis with 2 days on-site and 3 days working from home.
