Job Description

We are delighted to be partnering exclusively with this Cambridge based company, who are enjoying the brand-new facilities they moved into at the end of 2023.This is a unique position for a Mechanical Design Engineer with CVD experience to design a new deposition system. With responsibility for all design decisions, you will utilise your practical/real world understanding of high vacuum, high temperature systems for deposition and rely upon your previous experiencedesigning projects for novel systems.You will need to be an engineer who can hit the ground running, working independently and with the confidence to take the brief from concept, through design, development and management of the build.This is a small, family run organisation with a friendly, quirky environment. There will be plenty of progression opportunities as the company goes from strength to strength.The Role:

  • Define technical solutions to meet the deposition process spec
  • Use 3D CAD designs for simulation/modelling
  • Create documents for build
  • Carry out engineering calculations to ensure feasibility of design
  • Develop a build plan for the assembly of the deposition system, incl. BOM
  • Take responsibility for the build and coordinate with both in-house and external teams
  • Ensure the system is fully tested and reports created
What do you need to apply
  • Suitable technical qualifications
  • Experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer within a high-tech manufacturing environment
  • Experience with Solidworks or similar
  • Experience validating and proving design concepts
  • NPD experience, including taking a project from concept to build and test
  • An understanding of CVD furnace assembly, e.g. stainless steel framework, graphite insulation, gas delivery and control systems, temperature control systems, pump systems, PLC process control, electrics and wiring, etc.
