Job Description

Job title:CarpenterLocation:CambridgeSalary:£25,742-£29,605Are you a skilled Carpenter Joiner looking for a new challengeDo you enjoy working on a variety of building projects with different materials and techniquesDo you want to join a friendly and supportive team that provides essential maintenance and fire safety services to a world-class institutionIf you answered yes to these questions, then we have the perfect role for you!The Role:We are the Estates Division of one of the most prestigious and renowned universities in the world. We are responsible for maintaining and improving the operational estate of the university, which includes over 300 buildings across the city and beyond.We are looking for a Carpenter Joiner to join our in-house building fabric team, which delivers high-quality repairs and passive fire work throughout the estate. You will work on a range of projects, from fixing doors and windows to installing fire doorsand fire stopping. You will use your skills and experience in carpentry and joinery to work with various materials and tools, ensuring that the work is done safely and efficiently.You will also provide front line support to the university departments, responding to their requests and ensuring that their needs are met. You will work closely with other trades and contractors, as well as the estates managers and supervisors.About you:To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A good general education and a proven qualification in carpentry joinery to NVQ level 3 or equivalent
  • Experience in carpentry and joinery, preferably in a building maintenance environment
  • Experience in passive fire work, or willingness to learn and undergo training
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team, depending on the task
  • A full British driving licence, as you will need to travel between different sites
