We are currently looking for a Principal Scientist - Molecular Biology/Vector Platforms to join the Research and Technology Development team of a leading Biopharmaceutical in South Cambridgeshire. As the Principal Scientist - Molecular Biology/Vector Platforms you will be responsible for the development of technologies to improve mammalian expression of Proteins and Antibodies. This is a hands on, leadership role where you will lead on R&D projects bringwith you an in-depth knowledge of mammalian expression system and genetic engineering of Cell lines.KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Your duties as the Principal Scientist - Molecular Biology will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:1. Improve the Cell Line Development technologies and innovate their current Mammalian Expression Systems to improve host cell line functionality.2. You will look at improving technologies from target gene identification and validation through to Cell Line Engineering all the way to Phenotypic Characterisation. 3. Leading complex R&D projects from conception through to successful delivery. You will have the opportunity to develop you own project ideas using your experience and knowledge.4. You will have direct line management of a small team supporting you and provide high quality technical assistance and project leadershipROLE REQUIREMENTS:To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Principal Scientist - Molecular Biology we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:1. Relevant degree in a Molecular Biology, Cellular Biology or a Biotechnology related field. A PhD is preferred.2. Proven industry experience in the area of Molecular Biology where you have experience with Gene Editing ( e.g CRISPR Cas ) and Genotypic / Phenotypic characterisation of cell lines using DNA/RNAseq, qPCR and Flow Cytometry.3. A working knowledge and practical experience with Mammalian cell culture techniques such as Transfection, Maintenance, single cell isolation and automated Cell Screening.4.
