The Role of the Associate Business Manager:
  • Our client is a leading UK distributor of advanced life science research products.
  • Their products cover a broad range of life science research topics, focusing on cell and molecular biology.
  • As an Associate Business Manager, you will play a critical role in supporting the management and growth of the reagents portfolio, assisting in forecasting, benchmarking and market analysis to stay at the forefront of industry trends.
  • This position offers an ideal environment for you to enhance your technical knowledge, analytical and communication skills, with significant opportunities for professional development.
  • Identify opportunities (accounts/products/ranges/suppliers) from the existing reagents portfolio using data analysis, market research and by working with key internal stakeholders (marketing/sales/customer service/finance).
  • Assess market competition compared to identified opportunities.
  • Create and maintain positive, productive and profitable partnerships with key suppliers.
  • Communicate clearly and regularly, meeting the needs of each individual supplier as appropriate.
  • Set clear expectations for reporting and deliver on these expectations.
  • Encourage engagement by your key suppliers and support their marketing/sales plans.
  • Collect and analyse customer feedback and communicate this to suppliers as appropriate.
  • Analyse and benchmark product prices against competitors.
  • Assist with setting yearly sales forecasts, as well as short and long-term objectives and strategies.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to determine and implement tactics aligned with company objectives and strategies.
  • Attendance and support at events and conferences.
  • Provide internal sales and technical training.
  • Assist with portfolio enquiries from internal teams (marketing/sales/customer service/IT).

  • £23K-£26K basic salary
  • Bonus - 6% of basic salary Paid quarterly based on 3 individual KPIs that are set

The Ideal Person for the Associate Business Manager:
  • A Life Science Graduate with a degree.
  • Passion for life science research and a strong desire to enter the commercial life science market.
  • Results-orientated with the drive to set and meet agreed objectives.
  • A strong work ethic with a positive attitude and the drive to learn and progress.
  • The ability to translate analysis into actionable, practical strategies.
  • The ability to prioritise and manage many projects at the same time whilst meeting agreed timelines
  • Strong interpersonal skills including well-developed listening, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong Excel based data management, manipulation and reporting skills.
  • The ability to work with a degree of independence.
  • Happy and able to travel within the UK as required.
  • Full driving license.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
