Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic Metalworker whose skill set rests primarily within metalwork and fabrication. Our professional workshops and equipment are primarily configured to work with steel; however, we also work in stainless, aluminium, copper and brass etc. The role will also include assistance with our adjacent bronze foundry and the successful applicant will also assist with the finishing of bronze and aluminium casts as well as the pours themselves.Why choose us University of the Arts London is a vibrant world centre for innovation, drawing together six Colleges with international reputations in art, design, fashion, communication and performing arts.Every position within the University plays an important part in shaping future creative professionals, and impacts on the future of so many creative industries. Experience and confidence to teach Art and Design students safe practice in MIG, TIG, soldering and spot welding are essential prerequisites. A basic knowledge of kinetic work and light engineering would be desirable. You will have experience and familiarity with a wide range of mechanical fixings, fixtures, materials and metal stock in this field. As the role is to work with students to help realise their designs, some experience with planning, design and drawing is also useful.Students are at the forefront of this job and some experience in teaching, to FE / HE level, is desirable. We are looking for a candidate to assist with course aligned teaching for small groups as well as independent 1-1 teaching.
