Job Description

THIS POST IS FIXED TERM UNTIL 31ST MARCH, 2020 DUE TO FUNDINGContact tracing is a tried and tested method of controlling the spread of infectious diseases.As lockdown restrictions are gradually relaxed Welsh Government has introduced Test, Trace, Protect. Implemented by Public Health Wales in partnership with Health Boards and local Councils across Wales, its aim is to limit the spread of infection, trace the virus and protect our communities.It works by:

  • testing people who have symptoms, while they, and their households, self-isolate;
  • tracing people who have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive, and asking them to self-isolate;
  • protecting the community by reducing the onward spread of COVID-19, especially to the most vulnerable;
  • allowing people (and their households) who test negative and whose symptoms are not due to coronavirus to return to their usual routines.
  • What is the Gwent Test, Trace and Protect ServiceAll five Local Authorities in Gwent and Aneurin Bevan University Health Board (ABUHB) are working together to deliver a contact tracing service across Gwent.The post holder will be responsible for providing project management support to the Gwent Test, Trace and Protect Service and will support the Programme Manager and Senior Project Manager with the design and delivery of the work programme. They will have oversight of the whole programme, monitoring performance against agreed schedule, reporting on risks and working to resolve challenges to delivery. They will hold direct responsibility for delivering on specific elements within the project. This includes the development and implementation of an engagement and communications plan, such as organising and co-ordinating workshops and events. The post holder will also be developing the Team’s webpages and social media presence to support the work.The post holder will have excellent communication skills to work in partnership with ABUHB and the five local authorities, as well as nationally working with Welsh Government and Public Health Wales partners on a regular basis, and within defined governance systems.As part of our commitment to developing a bilingual workforce, applications are welcomed from candidates who can demonstrate their ability to work in both English and Welsh as well as those with additional language skills.The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.Closing date - 1st October 2020For further details / informal visits contact:Rebecca LewisPrincipal Public Health Practitionerrebecca.lewis16@wales.nhs.uk
