Job Description

THIS POST IS FIXED TERM UNTIL 31ST MARCH 2021 TO MEET THE NEEDS OF THE SERVICE.Contact tracing is a tried and tested method of controlling the spread of infectious diseases.As lockdown restrictions are gradually relaxed Welsh Government has introduced Test, Trace, Protect. Implemented by Public Health Wales in partnership with Health Boards and local Councils across Wales, its aim is to limit the spread of infection, trace the virus and protect our communities.It works by:

  • testing people who have symptoms, while they, and their households, self-isolate;
  • tracing people who have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive, and asking them to self-isolate;
  • protecting the community by reducing the onward spread of COVID-19, especially to the most vulnerable;
  • allowing people (and their households) who test negative and whose symptoms are not due to coronavirus to return to their usual routines.
  • What is the Gwent Test, Trace, Protect ServiceAll five Local Authorities in Gwent and Aneurin Bevan University Health Board (ABUHB) are working together to deliver a contact tracing service across Gwent.The Programme Manager for this service within Aneurin Bevan University Health Board will be working at strategic level, responsible for leading and managing on projects which impacts across and beyond the organisation. The post holder will be motivated and enthusiastic to lead the planning and facilitate implementation and delivery within the Gwent Test, Trace, Protect Service, reporting to the Incident Coordination Centre Lead working at regional level, linking the local contact tracing activity to regional, and escalating to national (Public Health Wales) on progress.The post holder will have excellent communication skills to work in partnership with ABUHB and the five local authorities, as well as nationally working with Welsh Government and Public Health Wales partners on a regular basis, and within defined governance systems.
