Job Description

THIS POST IS FIXED TERM FOR 2 YEARS TO MEET THE NEEDS OF THE SERVICE.This is a national (all Wales) post sitting within the Strategic Programme for Primary Care Team hosted by Aneurin Bevan University Health Board, with the post-holder working across the whole health and social care system in Wales.The successful individual will provide professional leadership and expert strategic advice relating to the role of nurses working in Primary and Community Care in the redesign component of whole system planning. The postholder will lead the development of nursing within primary and community care working in line with the vision of A Healthier Wales and the Strategic Programme for Primary Care in order to improve quality, safety and performance of local services.As the National Nursing Lead for Primary and Community Care, you will work closely with a range of stakeholders including other national clinical leads, colleagues across the NHS, Welsh Government, Local Authorities, the Third and Independent Sectors and citizens to drive forward service planning and to lead continuous improvement through the delivery of the nursing role within the Primary Care Model for Wales.To succeed in this role, you will have:-

  • Experience of working with primary care/ community health/mental health services and partnership working with Local Authorities as well as the Third and the Independent Sector.
  • Experience of multi-agency strategic planning and successful track record of strategic management at a senior level.
  • Understanding of the NHS Wales strategic change agenda, particularly of primary and community care including the role of national initiatives and their regulatory functions.
  • Proven leadership skills and excellent communication skills.
  • A total commitment to delivering citizen focused service
