Job Description

Are you wishing to pursue a career working with young people who display challenging behaviourDo you have previous experience working with children and young people in an educational or Youth Group settingTeaching Personnel are seeking a Behaviour Support Assistant to join a Secondary school in Newport.This role will be a 12 month contract initially, however if you are getting on well at the school there will be an opportunity to join on a permanent basis pending a review.

  • About the role:This Behaviour Support Assistant role is working on a 1:1 basis with a KS3 student. Your role as a Behaviour Assistant will be to provide in class support for the student and also provide well-being intervention sessions in the learning support department.Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor student progress and behaviour
  • Provide 1:1 in class support and interventions
  • Liaise with the class teacher during lessons
  • Attend weekly meetings with the SENCO team, to discuss the pupil’s progress and raise any concerns.
  • The school are seeking a Behaviour Support Assistant with previous experience managing behaviour - this experience can be personal or professional.This role will begin when the school reopens, but there may be an opportunity to work in the schools hub provision during lock down. This will be a great opportunity to familiarise yourself with the team, school, and most vulnerable students.£300 - £350 weekly pay -We only pay PAYE, we do not work with umbrella companies so there are no umbrella fees for you.Requirements:
  • Previous experience working with children or managing challenging behaviour - personal or professional
  • A strong academic background or alternatively a strong track record of working with young people or secondary school children
  • DBS and EWC Registration - Teaching Personnel can help you apply for both of these
  • The school are ideally seeking someone with Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification but this is not a requirement.
