Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Yard Operative to work in Burton on the Wolds for a family run business which has been running for over 40 years. As a Yard Operative you will be joining a company that embraces innovation and looks aftertheir staff and deals with some of the UKs biggest construction product manufacturers. This is a perm Yard Operative role paying up to £24,000 to £25,000 per annum.Working Hours are:

  • Monday to Friday - 8am to 5,30pm with a 5pm finish on a Friday
Yard Operative Role:
  • To execute the picking requirements and fulfilment of customer orders, in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with the goals and objectives of the business.
Key Accountabilites:
  • Accurate and timely picking of company products to fulfil customer orders as detailed on the picking notes
  • Packing products where necessary, using sufficient protection to avoid damage in transit, in an efficient and economic manner
  • Clearly and accurately label products prior to despatch
  • Ensure shipping and in house delivery deadlines are met
  • Maintain a clean and tidy warehouse and yard area
  • Dealing directly with customers collecting orders in a polite and professional manner
  • Ensure stock is replenished as required
  • Carry out other general yard / warehouse duties as requested by the Yard Supervisor
  • Unload deliveries from suppliers and check for damage and completeness
Knowledge and Experience
  • Counterbalance FLT Licence required
  • Experience in working in a warehouse or Yard environment
Skills and abilities
  • Basic IT skills
  • Good attention to detail to ensure that correct products are loaded / unloaded
  • Good communicator and comfortable dealing with customers
  • Ability to successfully handle difficult situations in a calm manner
  • Must have a flexible attitude and readiness to adapt swiftly to change
  • Be self motivated and have the ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
