Our client is an ambitious high growth privately owned group of companies operating within the Construction, Electrical Engineering and Service Industries with a combined turnover of around £22mAs part of the company’s expansion via both organic growth and via M&A, FRS have been enlisted to assist with the recruitment of the companies first Qualified Accountant to join the business as Finance DirectorThe successful candidate will be joining the business at an exciting time to drive improvement and growth working closely with the CEO to plan for future exit with equity stake being offered.The companies head office is ideally situated and Close to both M1 / M6 / M42 and therefore easily accessible from across both East and West Midlands with Regional Hubs based across the UK.OverviewWe are seeking an experienced and motivated Accountant / Finance Leader to oversee the financial operations of the Business. The HOF will play a pivotal role in driving the companys financial, operational, and commercial strategy, providing accurate and timely insight and executions.This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the growth and success of the group of companies building and delivering a company exit plan (with equity)Responsibilities:Financial Strategy and Planning: • Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the companys M&A objectives.• Provide strategic financial, commercial, and operational guidance to the senior management team.• Drive financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes.• Assess financial risks and identify potential opportunities for growth and cost optimization.Financial Reporting and Analysis:• Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including P&L statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and financial KPIs.• Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making processes and identify areas for improvement.• Monitor financial performance, analyse variances, and provide recommendations to enhance profitability.Operational development • Drive changes needed to maintain and enhance productivity and margin across the business.Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A)• Lead financial due diligence and valuation processes for potential acquisitions.• Evaluate financial viability, risks, and synergies of acquisition targets.• Collaborate with legal and operational teams to negotiate and structure financial terms of acquisitions.• Provide integration support during post-merger activities.BAU• Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and general ledger.• Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, laws, and reporting standards.• Implement and maintain effective internal controls and financial risk management processes.• Manage relationships with external accountants, tax advisors, and financial institutions.• Cash flow management and optimisation• Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.• Set performance goals, conduct performance evaluations, and provide professional development opportunities.• Promote continuous improvement initiatives and optimize finance-related processes.Applicants• The ideal candidate will be formally qualified ACA / ACCA / CIMA and have at least 1-2+ years PQE. Those that are QBE or P/Q with suitable experience will be considered• Either be working within practice seeking a first move into industry or have the benefit of transferable experience ideally gained within Construction / Engineering / Manufacturing• Strong knowledge of financial management principles, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.• First class communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.Candidates meeting the above will have the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.Joining the business as the Head of Finance presents a remarkable opportunity to make a significant impact on the financial performance and growth of the company.In return the successful candidate will be rewarded with a competitive basic salary, excellent benefits and equity stake giving a vested interest in the successful delivery of business sale within 5 years.
