Electrical Design Engineer (Rail Equipment)Burton Upon TrentGood base salary, bonus, good pension & excellent other benefitsINTRODUCTIONAs a world leading engineering company with a proven track record in providing advanced engineered solutions to the rail industry (locos, not infrastructure), as well as tunnelling and construction, my client has a history and pedigree that spans almost a century.They have developed some novel equipment that provides additional capabilities and functionality to their locos and, due to the award of a number of prestigious contracts and additional projects, they are now looking to bring in a a suitably skilled and experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join an existingenthusiastic team.THE ROLEAs an Electrical Design Engineer you will:• Design electrical products, including 2D detail schematic/wiring drawings, with products ranging from 2 tonne to 135 tonne, powered by Diesel, electric, battery or hybrid technologies• Update existing designs, in conjunction with the Mechanical Design Engineers and supporting the Technical Author• Create 2D designs in AutoCAD and be proficient within 3D CAD (ideally Autodesk Inventor)• Be the go to person for advice and support, both within the business and as a client point of contactTHE PERSONIn order to be considered for this Electrical Design Engineer role it is expected that you will:• Be Degree qualified within a related subject (BEng, BSc). Those with HND/HNC will be considered, dependant of real-world experience• Carry relevant electrical design experience within an engineering product design environment. Due to the experience required, it is very unlikely that this would suit a recent graduate• Live within a commutable distance of Burton upon Trent (we are not considering those that will need to relocate)• Be capable of creating functional PLC designs (ideally with IFM experience) and CAN bus control systems• Be confident within AC and DC (<1000v) power systems• Have large, low volume, high value product experience• Be capable of supporting the production function with their technical enquiries• Have experience of working with small and medium sized companies – which provides great variety!• Be able to work closely with electrical teams and client contacts, as well as engineers from within manufacturing or installation• The ability to prioritise and manage your workload to ensure that milestones are met on time and to budget• Other I.T skills based around the usual Microsoft Office suite (Word / Excel / PowerPoint / Internet / Email etc.)• A flexible and can do attitudeTHE REWARDSIn addition to working with one of the world leaders in what they do, you will be rewarded with;• A good basic salary based on your skills and experience• An annual profit related bonus• A good company pension• Life assurance• Optional healthcare plan• 33 days holiday per year (25+8)• Superb career development opportunities
