Job Description

Opportunity for a supply chain manager, or procurement managerto join a business that has historically achieved greater than 20% yearly growth! The hiring company are a global organisation that have four international subsidiaries, their culture is friendly, and they enjoy very low staff turnover rates. The business has gained an enviable reputation for being a stable, considerate employer withexcellent career development opportunities.As the supply chain manager / procurement manager, you will have the overall responsibility for direct and indirect purchasing, from receipt and delivery to the point of use. You will lead the purchasing and goods in teams, managing a direct spend of around£10M. Your remit will include the local manufacturing site and international subsidiary sites.Supply chain manager / procurement manager responsibilities will include:Vendor management

  • Managing the sourcing activities of the team with full consideration for the impact of those activities across all aspects of the business, implementing differing strategies where necessary across the category base to ensure optimum cost, quality & deliverymetrics.
  • Developing supplier relationships, re-evaluating where necessary, developing dual sourcing plans and other strategic processes to ensure the continuity and stability of raw material supply.
  • Assessing, managing, and mitigating risks regarding supply contracts and agreements, including considering external factors (COVID, Brexit, International relations etc.) and how they may affect existing supply chain processes.
  • Updating and implementing a robust supplier evaluation process to assess new suppliers, negotiate terms and agree commitments, audit new suppliers to ensure performance targets are met.
  • Establishing an audit routine for existing suppliers, tracking and reporting KPIs to monitor supplier performance and quality.
  • Evaluating and negotiating new service contracts with utilities and other service providers as appropriate
Inventory control and MRP
  • Instilling a culture of supply delivery within the teams, reviewing processes for the timely identification and communication of issues to the production, manufacturing services and engineering teams.
  • Evaluating and reviewing the current MRP processes, benchmarking against industry-standard procedures and completing a GAP analysis. Generating an improvement plan designed to reduce or eliminate gaps and improve the efficiency of the MRP process.
  • Ensuring that all members of the purchasing team and associated functions fully understand the mechanisms by which MRP is driven and how changes in data or actions will modify the MRP outputs.
  • Working with the production manager and planner to manage inventory levels.
  • Identifying, recommending, and implementing contingencies to ensure continuity, stability, and cost of raw materials.
  • Proactively strive to minimise shortages that will impact production and do everything reasonably possible to ensure supply of materials does not stop production and impact the customer.
Leadership and strategic management
  • Leading, mentoring and developing the purchasing team.
  • Working with the senior leadership team to devise and employ broader sourcing strategies considering company growth (both turnover & geography) and development plans.
To be successful in your application for the supply chain manager / procurement manager position, you will need
  • Extensive strategic procurement/purchasing experience.
  • In-depth experience with ERP, including scheduling, stock analysis, change control, MRP and purchasing.
  • Strong people leadership skills.
  • Experience of working in a complex manufacturing/assembly environment.
In return, the supply chain manager / procurement manager will receive a salary of £45,000 - £50,000, highly dependent on experience plus a discretionary bonus, twenty-four days holidays + bank holidays, cash healthcare plan, pension and sickness pay.
