Job Description

Opportunity for a science graduate (chemistry, forensic science, chemical engineering) to join a rapidly growing global, financially secure, award-winning business as a graduate field service engineer. Training will take place over two years; the salary will increase as you successfully progress through the training, starting at £25,000, rising to £26,000 after six months, £27,500 after 12 months and to £30,000 after 24 months. After 12 months, a companycar will be added to the package.We are seeking graduates who are capable of "thinking on their feet", have an inquiring mind, and can proactively look for ways to improve themselves and the product or task they are working on. Offering a clear career pathway to becoming a full-time fieldservice engineer after the second year.During phase one of the graduate training programme (first 12 months), training will take place at the hiring companies manufacturing sites in South Wales and East England. During phase two (second 12 months), there will be travel shadowing an experiencedfield service engineer on customer visits. Training and development will be via various channels, including structured classes, online training, and in-field mentoring. More detailed responsibilities include: -Phase one - first year. Undertake training in analytical technologies in South Wales and the East of England, including: -

  • Gaining experience across the product ranges
  • Operating and troubleshooting laboratory instrumentation
  • Assisting in the development of new applications
  • Executing proof statements for new development projects and evaluating system capabilities
  • Creating and participating in training webinars and seminars for customers or distributors
Phase two - second year. Undergo service engineer training on a range of instrumentation, including: -
  • Regularly shadowing an experienced field engineer assisting with a wide range of service calls
  • Undertaking more minor field service engineer visits for routine maintenance and some installations
  • Building your problem-solving skills and analytical knowledge as you visit various laboratories and develop relationships with customers
To apply for the science graduate (chemistry, forensic science, chemical engineering) position, you need: -
  • A degree in a relevant scientific discipline, for example, chemistry, forensic science, or chemical engineering
  • A good theoretical understanding of chromatography
  • A full drivers license
  • Good all-around communication skills
  • The willingness to train as a field service engineer and travel extensively as part of the job
In return, the science graduate (chemistry, forensic science, chemical engineering) will receive a salary starting at £25,000, increasing in line with successful completion of training to £26,000 after six months, £27,500 after 12months and £30,000 after 24 months.
