Job Description

Summary Duration: This is a permanent role.The Hours: This is an annualised hours contract where you would be required to work 1950 hours per year, working 5 out of 7 days which will include weekends and public/school holidays.Due to the seasonality of the area and property opening schedule, you may work up to 45 hours per week in the spring/summer, with much shorter working hours in the autumn/winter months.You will not be required to work nights, split shifts and will be off on Christmas day as the property is fully closed to the public.Salary: £19,928Benefits: Generous paid holidays which increase with length of service, free parking and entry to National Trust properties for you and your immediate family, enrolment in the company pension scheme, 20% discount in all National Trust shops& cafes and discounted stays with National Trust holiday cottages. What its like to work here Greenway is the former home of Agatha Christie, set within beautiful gardens and direct views over the River Dart. Greenway is part of a group of properties known as the English Riviera Portfolio which also includes Coleton Fishacre, Bradley Manor andCompton Castle.There may be a requirement to work across the properties from time to time, so access to a car and driving licence is essential.You will work collaboratively with over 100 colleagues from other departments such as gardens, rangers, retail, facilities, visitor reception and house & collections to promote a one-team atmosphere.Its a beautiful place to work and completely different to conventional F&B environments. What youll be doing Youll work with our Food & Beverage Manager to manage our entire Food & Beverage operation. Youll always consider how we can do it better, more efficiently, and how we can deliver an even tastier end result for the visitor. From mouth-watering food, to attentive service, to little touches that make a big difference, your catering know-how and painstaking attention to detail, will ensure that every visitorhas an incredible experience. You will oversee the small but busy caf as well as the seasonal secondary outlet at Greenway, working within a bustling atmosphere, leading a friendly and passionate team. The role of Assistant Food & Beverage Manager plays apivotal role in the success of the F&B function and to the enjoyment and experience of our customers visit to Greenway.You will enjoy leading our team to excel in providing brilliant service and quality food such as fresh homemade soups, sandwiches, one-pots, cakes and bakes.Please also read the full role profile, attached to the end of this advert. Who were looking for To be successful in this role, youll need to;

  • Have good people management skills, including setting personal objectives and providing feedback
  • Have good people skills enabling effective relationships externally and internally to be built and maintained
  • Have good written and verbal communication skills including influencing and negotiating
  • Be willing to embrace central initiatives in menu development and procedures
  • Have a proven track record of delivering exceptional customer service
  • Have a track record of developing theFood & Beverageoffer and achieving performance targets
  • Have practical experience of Food & Beveragebest practice including the production and service of good quality food and drink
  • Hold City and Guilds level 2/3 or equivalent
  • Have some management of budgets, increasing income and controlling costs including stock and waste management
  • Have some knowledge of all Food Hygiene and Health & Safety compliance requirements
  • Have good IT skills
