Job Description

Engineering & On-sites support SHEQ AdvisorPertemps are proud to present to you this fantastic one-off opportunity that doesnt come around that often.Our client is the largest provider of industrial, medical and special gases in the UKand Ireland and supply thousands of different types of gas, and gas mixtures to more than 400,000 customers in an enormous range of industries.With a network of major production facilities, distribution centres and retail stores across the UK and Ireland,our client supply compressed, bulk and pipeline gases, chemicals, engineering solutions and associated equipment.The role is working with a team of SHEQ Advisors located in UK & Ireland who provide SHEQ advice to Operational & functional parts of the business,theses key parts of the business are, Customer Engineering Services, Project Engineers and Onsite supportDuties of the role:

  • Setting, communicating, and maintaining clear and pragmatic requirements for the management of SHEQ risk to customers, suppliers and internal colleagues will be key
  • Providing visible leadership of the SHEQ agenda to customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders ranging from front line employees to Director level
  • You will form, deliver, and maintain an independent view from the parts of the business you support and, where appropriate, escalate and re-focus to enable timely proactive intervention
  • You will provide timely, accurate, practical, and professional SHEQ support to line management across all aspects of the Safety, Health, Environment & Quality (SHEQ) agenda
  • The role is fully focused on performing in a way to ensure the effective and sustainable implementation of SHEQ behaviours and SHEQ management systems and key improvement programmes
  • You will spend 50% of your time travelling to a wide range of sites as far as Glasgow, the other 50% of your time will be split between working on site and working from home to ensure a good work life balance.
Requirements for the role
  • You will have experience managing or operating under an effective and comprehensive SHEQ management system in an industrial setting
  • Experience in Engineering and construction such as the construction of Manufacturing Engineering plants.
  • You will have a good grasp of Health & Safety legislation and be able to communicate this is a way that Directors and Frontline employees will understand in a pragmatic way.
  • You must be able to engage with Engineers.
  • In addition you are holding, or willing to obtain, NEBOSH Diploma and Level 2 assessor competence
  • A Grounding in Quality Management principles is required
  • You must have a high level of personal Integrity and resilience with the ability to prioritise work activities based on SHEQ risk exposure
  • Be able to understand issues from first principles, and take an independent view in providing practical advice that is suited to the customer /environment to which it is aimed at is essential
  • Experience of working in a Major Accident Hazard Industry and Transport operations, green belt six sigma; completion of modules from the CQI Practitioner Certificate in Quality Management is desirable
  • Travelling to sites across the UK & Ireland on a scheduled basis to visit customer and suppliers on an as required basis is part of the role
In return you will receive:
  • You will receive a basic salary of £50-£55k basic salary plus bonus
  • The bonus is based on Individual performance and Team related performance
