Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Governance Officer who is ready for a new and exciting challenge to join our Risk and Governance Team.As Governance Officer, youll have the unique opportunity of being party to "big picture" discussions, as well as drilling down into individual policies, processes and frameworks to ensure everything works in tandem to achieve the Societys goals and objectives.You will be responsible for managing, coordinating and driving the Societys Governance Policy, and will play a pivotal role in providing professional secretarial and administrative support to our executive and management committees. From operations andprojects to preparing for regulatory visits and supporting our Board - working hand-in-hand with risk management - you will have the opportunity to delve behind-the-scenes and experience first-hand the components that contribute to the success of Dudley BuildingSociety.Governance is ultimately about ensuring we have an effective Board of Directors to represent the Societys Members which is why its so important for the Society to have a robust approach supported by a strong team.To be our next Governance Officer, you will:

  • Have an infectious attitude - youll believe in the Society and what we are trying to achieve;
  • Be relentless - there are many tasks we do that require someone who gets a buzz from pushing things over the finish line;
  • Have excellent written communication skills - our minutes are the only record the Society holds for the key decisions we make - they need to be written well!
  • Like to interact with people - youll be here to support the entire business, including our Board. Youll be personable, approachable and helpful;
  • Eager to develop your knowledge. We like to continually develop our skills here!
Main responsibilities will include:
  • Secretarial duties for executive and management committees- including agenda-setting, action-tracking, minute-taking and the co-ordination and distribution of papers;
  • Supporting and engaging with key stakeholders to execute the Societys policy and process frameworks;
  • Managing and enhancing our systems to support the Societys objectives;
  • Supporting the Head of Risk and Governance & Society Secretary with Board and Board Committee governance requirements; and
  • Supporting the wider Governance, Risk and Compliance Team.
