Job Description

Industry leading organisation in Bridgend are looking for a Category Specialist to support Public Sector Procurement on a 9 month maternity contract. Working on behalf of our customers throughout the UK to secure financial savings on their day-to-day costs - enabling them to use that money where it matters most. Ideally you will be CIPs or working towards.What they will offer you as a Category SpecialistCompetitive salary9 month Maternity Contract30 days annual leave (including bank holidays) pro rata3 extra days paid leave per annum to support a charity of your choice pro rataPensionWorking from home flexibilityAbout the role of Category Specialist:You will be reporting to the Category Manager, the role is responsible for supporting delivery of procurement service and acting as the procurement support for a number of procurement projects and activities.This is a key position that will work with both the public and private sectors and will require someone who has experience of public procurement regulations (PCR2015), plus the ability to ensure compliance when delivering value. Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the Category Manager to develop and deliver the category strategy for various key spend categories.
  • Developing and delivering a category strategy for your assigned categories
  • Providing assistance and support to our Purchasing Health Check/Contracts Register process for analysing spend and contract management.
  • Identifying and delivering meaningful social value outcomes through your category
  • Proactively building, developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders across the business and our customers
  • Undertaking market intelligence and analysis activities in regard to supplier selection.
  • Supporting bid activities from writing tenders to evaluation to selection and providing cost breakdown analysis and quotation analysis.
  • Undertaking and supporting sourcing and tendering activities
  • Supporting the creation and delivery of appropriate contracts.
  • Following best practice in all areas of procurement management and compliance.
  • Supporting the selection and on-boarding process for new suppliers, plus conducting all relevant checks.
  • Providing supervisory support to Procurement Co-ordinators
  • Assisting with the development and delivery of procurement training sessions.

  • Understanding of PCR2015 and OJEU Tendering
  • Ability to work as a team
  • CIPs qualified or working towards
  • Ideally be available immediately for interview and start
  • Have working knowledge of Public Sector Tendering
