Summary As a Ranger, you’re the heart and soul of the National Trust in the landscapes we protect. You’re a champion of nature conservation and the great outdoors, and you’ll play a crucial role in keeping the nation’s beloved countryside and coast in good shape,for wildlife and for people.You should be willing to work some weekends, bank holidays and evenings, and be on call. What its like to work here East Devon is a varied property, caring some exceptional places. Our countryside sites predominately range along the south coast of East Devon, coveringaround 750 hectares. Within this wide-ranging property, we conserve; Sections of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, Special Sites of Scientific Interest, ancient hill forts, species rich grasslands, and diverse woodlands. The coastal properties are characterisedby their cliffs, undercliffs and deep, wooded coombes. Branscombe, nestling at the junction of three valleys is a classic example of an East Devon coastal village, where the Trust owns a water mill, forge and former bakery. The post will be based here, inthe East Devon Countryside office in the heart of the picturesque village, where you will be reporting to the Area Ranger. What youll be doing You’ll be helping to protect and care for habitats, wildlife, buildings and machinery. You’ll pass on your knowledge and enthusiasm to encourage others to love this area as much as you do. Whenever and wherever you come across people, you’ll take the timeto talk to them and answer their questions, rather than rushing away to the next task.You’ll make sure that the conservation work and outdoor experiences on the land in your care are of the highest standard.
