Job Description

A small Primary school in North Leeds are looking to appoint enthusiastic and motivated Teaching Assistants to join a dedicated care and support team. The school is a 1 form entry primary school with a very supportive Head Teacher who has been at the school for a number of years.This is an exciting time to join the school as they have made great progress over the last couple of years and have achieved an Ofsted inspection grading ‘GOOD’ status.The school are seeking four Teaching Assistants and Lerning Support Assistants who can make a difference, building high quality relationships with children, parents, staff and other stakeholders. As the majority of students will have been out of structured education for almost 6 months by the time schools return in September, students will require additional support staff to help both emotionally and educationally. Many students may struggle with their reading, writing, communication and may find it difficult to intergrate with their peers, have anxiety about returning to school and could have faced a number of challenges in their personal life due to COVID-19.As a Teaching Assistant, responsibilities will include:

  • Working closely with class teachers and other key professionals to plan, deliver and evaluate intervention programmes for pupils across school
  • Fostering positive relationships with children, families and staff
  • Remaining calm and responding sensitively to individual needs
  • Preparing class resources
  • Working pro-actively to meet pupils individual needs
  • Support the well-being of pupils
  • Promote the inclusion and acceptance of children with special needs within the classroom ensuring access to lessons and their content through appropriate clarification, explanation and resources
  • In addition to supporting pupils through targeted intervention, you may also be called upon to support individual pupils within class, supporting transition or providing assistance to access learning activities.
