Job Description

Bookkeeper, Salary £20-25,000 + benefits + free parking + support with professional development. The Role: We are looking for an experienced Bookkeeper to work in a thriving accountancy practice, taking responsibility for the bookkeeping requirements of a portfolio of clients, including a wide variety of limited companies and sole traders.This is a full-time role but there can be some flexibility regarding start and finish times. The role (beyond Covid) will be mainly office based, allowing you to enjoy the benefits of a friendly and supportive team, but the company is fully digital and will provide the equipment and support for a degree of home working as required.The Company: Blenheim Accounting are a small, ambitious and rapidly expanding firm of Chartered Accountants who provide accountancy, virtual FD and related services companies within the Greater Bristol Area. The business has built an excellent reputation for providing an informed and high-quality service and is located in modern offices in North Bristol (Bradley Stoke, BS32) with easy access to the M4/M5/M32.Bookkeeper, Responsibilities include:

  • General bookkeeping duties (mainly using Xero cloud accounting software)
  • Management and reconciliation of bank accounts, cash and credit card statements.
  • Preparing VAT returns and reporting to HMRC.
  • Resolving bookkeeping queries and liaising directly with clients.
  • Preparing month end journals.
  • Assisting the payroll team at peak times during the year.
  • Assisting with the preparation of data to support annual tax returns.
  • Bookkeeper, Skills Required:
  • 2 years+ bookkeeping experience (gained in practice or industry).
  • Experience of using Xero cloud accounting software and Receipt Bank processes
  • Good knowledge of VAT
  • Excellent communications skills (both verbally and in writing) with the ability to build relationships with clients.
  • Payroll knowledge (the practice uses BrightPay payroll bureau software).
  • A strong team player, with a positive, can-do’ attitude, capable of working with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to work to month end deadlines, demonstrating excellent attention to detail.
