Job Description

We are proud to be partnering with a high growth SME in North Bristol, who are looking for an Accountant to join them and assist the Financial Controller in general accounting duties, process improvement and other ad-hoc project as the business continues to grow. Some of the initial duties will be relatively transactional in nature as the processes are manual; there is also a system implementation on the horizon and so the right candidate will be happy to do manual and transactional tasks while also absorbing more responsibility as the finance function grows alongside the business.The accountabilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Average costs for stock value change - manual changes to be made in the system
  • P11Ds, Potential PSA logging
  • VAT returns
  • Monthly reports to MD and HoF showing stock items GP and any variances - Including FX variances and the effects on GPM
  • Monthly Finance Stock Count and stock value checks
  • Liaising with Ops Manager and Tech manager for Price increases (input on twice-yearly packs to sales)
  • Bank reconciliations - (Currently Six Accounts - GBP and EUR)
  • Assisting with month-end - Including some Balance Sheet Recs and manual JE
  • Accounts Payable - Everything from liaising with budget holders for correct allocation of stock and non-stock items, to moving PPI from GL to Receiver values.
  • Accounts Receivable - allocation of payments from contractors, chasing of payments and checking commission rates, Provision with back up of any bad debt accruals needed
  • Creating Employee Purchase Invoices
  • Expense form GL allocation with correct VAT treatment
  • Liaising with the Marketing manager with Corporate Report information
  • Supporting other departments when necessary
  • While this is a permanent role with plenty of potential for growth, we are looking for:
  • Flexibility - you need to able and willing to pick up ad-hoc tasks when required
  • Autonomy and self-motivation - they are a hard-working, small team and you need to work well in that type of environment
  • Excel Skills including Vlookups, Pivots and basic formulas.
  • Knowledge of Debits and Credits, P&L and Balance sheet (as most entries will be manual)
  • Quick learner
  • Gets stuck in - enjoys a role with a mix of basic/administrative tasks and more complex, challenging responsibilities.
  • Progressive - this role will expand into a bigger role
