Job Description

Location:Home BasedSalary: CompetitiveWe have a rewarding opportunity to join our growing Group IT function working as a SQL Developer in our Business Intelligence & Data Tower on a 6 month fixed term contract.What will you doReporting to a Business Intelligence Development Manager, you will work as part of a remote, home-based team to deliver multiple projects across the business. You will use your design and development skills to deliver BI solutions on the MS SQL server stack,delivering incremental value through agile BI methodologies. We are making strategic steps in to cloud BI, and we will offer learning opportunities via a structured personal development plan to get you delivering value as quickly as possible with hands ondelivery. As a team we are looking to transform our BI landscape capability, so well need people who are flexible and up for the challenge.Responsibilities will include:

  • Managing current ETL/SQL and future estate code using Visual Studio Team Services (VSTS), Azure Data Flows or other suitable product(s)
  • Writing relational and multi-dimensional database queries
  • Building data warehouses using Kimball methodology
  • Ensuring current SQL Services and BI reporting tools are optimally configured for BI solution
  • Monitoring, troubleshooting and isolating performance issues in the BI solution and act to prevent recurrences
  • Ensuring adherence to all development standards and protocols including change management, code review, documentation, and testing
  • Developing solutions using warehousing methodologies and best practice.
  • Advising internal customers on how best to leverage available data for consumption

  • Youll be passionate about data engineering, manipulating data to allow the business to build reports and make decisions.
  • You will be able to build data warehouses usingKimball methodology.
  • You will be able to demonstrate skills in data tools and BI theory and design.
  • You may have proven experience in BI development and ETL.
  • You will have extensive knowledge of the SQL language.
  • You will have a good knowledge of the Microsoft BI product stack (SSIS, SSMS, and SSRS) and some Azure knowledge would be desirable.
  • Good team working skills and clearly communicate solutions to both technical and non-technical people in the business
