Job Description

IT Test AnalystLocation: Home basedSalary: £28,000£35,000 Per AnnumContract: PermanentHours: 37.5 hoursWe are looking for a dynamic IT Test Analyst to join our recently formed Group IT team in the provision of application maintenance and support services, either directly to users of the systems or to service delivery functions.What will you doAs an IT Test Analyst, the support you provide typically includes investigation and resolution of issues and may also include performance monitoring. Issues may be resolved by providing advice or training to users, by devising corrections (permanent or temporary)for faults, making general or site-specific modifications, updating documentation, manipulating data, or defining enhancements. Testing often involves close collaboration with the systems developers and/or with colleagues specialising in different areas,such as database administration or network support.Test Analysts also take an active role in the change process, undertaking assistance in system capabilities and scoping, while performing testing capabilities throughout the test cycles.Responsibilities will include:

  • Ownership of test artefacts including scope definition, test scripts, reporting metrics and exit documentation, while acting as a custodian of the technical expertise and overall management of the application (e.g. Microsoft CRM).
  • Helping to plan, implement and maintain a stable application environment and ensures that required resources and expertise are in place to design, build, transition, operate and improve the IT service and supporting technology.
  • Engaging with specialist technical architects and designers, as well as specialist maintenance and support staff.
  • Scheduling the work of User Acceptance staff, while ensuring all work is carried out and documented in accordance with required standards, methods and procedures.
  • Supporting and maintaining procedures and tools for the correct recording and progressing of requirements.
  • Ensuring that appropriate test tools are available and staff are supported to use them, and that adequate documentation for the applications supported is available and up to date.
  • Ensuring that requests for support are properly logged, assigned and responded to.
  • Monitoring performance of the test activity, reporting on its effectiveness and taking action to remedy deficiencies.
  • Initiating action, by systems development staff or software suppliers, on the development of system enhancements to overcome known problems or further fulfil user requirements.
  • Accepting new releases of applications software from systems development staff or software suppliers and undertaking testing roles during the change process.

  • Ideally you will be ISTQB Foundation Level Certified or studying towards the qualification
  • You will have a background in developing test cycle definition, with the ability to manage a test cycle and co-ordinate system users to effectively execute change testing.
  • You will be proficient in the application of automated systems to the support of specific business functions or processes.
  • You will be proficient in the application of automated (software) tools which enable selective access to information held within some form of database or "data warehouse".
  • You will be familiar with risk management, business impact analysis, countermeasures and contingency arrangements relating to the serious disruption of IT services.
