Job Description

General Purpose:Connections are currently recruiting for an experienced bridging loan underwriter to join an established specialist lender. As a loan underwriter you will support in the processing of loan agreements ensuring all relevant checks are completed, assessing creditworthinessof applicants to identify potential risk to the business. This is an office based role based close to Altrincham.Main Duties:

  • Manage to completion the Underwriting of Development cases. From enquiry and offer through to completion.
  • Seek the advice and guidance of Senior Team members and the Risk Manager to increase your knowledge and understanding.
  • Work with the Legal and Credit Department to ensure completion of cases and oversee communication with the client and brokers throughout the process.
  • Focus on your own continuous improvement and identify ways to improve your working methods.
  • Support the team with workload and holiday cover as required.
  • Maintain accurate records and system information.
  • Ensure best practice and optimum performance on Development loans completions.
  • Support your own learning and professional development by keeping up to date with legal and industry changes.
  • Manage allocated broker relationships.
  • Review and approve the valuation instruction letters, instruction to solicitors and security documents before they are sent to solicitors in line with the Underwriter policy guidelines.
  • Attend training sessions.
  • Instruct and review valuations, Asset Manager and Quantity Surveyor reports for cases under your supervision liaising with external professionals where appropriate.
  • Always remain focussed on meeting individual KPIs and departmental targets for quality
  • Occasional National Travel
Person Specification:
  • Development Bridging Underwriting experience – 3 years or more
  • Or Short-term lending and property related lending underwriting experience preferred.
  • Ability to adopt a pragmatic approach to underwriting ideally with a specialist lender.
  • Able to prioritise effectively to manage multiple underwriting functions.
  • Driver
