Job Description

Role:- Youth Mentor LGBTLocation:- BowburnSalary :- £23k DOEContract 2 - 3 monthsRole OverviewTrigon Recruitment are recruiting exclusively for a National Charity who have been established for almost 40 years. This role is a great opportunity to join a large and diverse organisation and social impact at the heart of its values.The roleThe role involves working in South Tyneside with young people aged 11-25 years of age who require advice and support with gender identification and sexual orientation. Covering Jarrow and Bolden you will support people through 6 one to one sessions or groupsessions that will cover the space of 12 months. Referrals are generated via Drug and alcohol services, Schools, self referral and parents. Delivery will be outreach and will be in schools, office, home and other relevant/appropriate settings. Whilst you willbe part of a larger team this role is predominantly a lone working role where you will be engaging and supporting service users in the field alone.The ideal candidate

  • MUST BE A DRIVER WITH ACCESS TO A VEHICLE
  • Either be from the LGBT community or have experience working within this community
  • A desire to help and support young people
  • Strong mentoring skills
  • Ability to create goal planning objectives and creating support plans
  • Understanding and empathetic nature
  • Good understanding of the local area
  • Good IT skills
  • Strong inter personal skills
  • Good networking ability
  • Able to develop strong and lasting relationships with referral partner organisations
  • Promote the service to relevant parties within the local area
  • Be able to deliver group sessions
  • Strong inter personal skills
  • Able to build rapport and quickly
