Job Description

A great opportunity has arisen to join at well-established UK & International Haulage and Warehousing Company based in County Durham. The company has over 50 years experience in the Industry and is still family owned at operated. At the heart of the businessis our Fleet Maintenance Operation. The Fleet Maintenance Team are responsible for providing maintenance support and technical expertise within the company to ensure they constantly meet the necessary compliance requirements. The maintenance team are needinga fitter to join them to assist in servicingtheir own fleet and offers third party services.Duties to include but not limited to:

  • Vehicle inspections.
  • MOT Preparation/presentation.
  • Diagnostics.
  • General repairs.
  • Completion of all required paperwork.
  • Carrying out plannedmaintenance and pre-sale and refurbishment repairs.
Objectives and Attributes.The key objectives are:
  • To drive high quality repairs in the most cost-effective manner.
  • Liaising with The Workshop Manager to ensure that repairs are completed allowing movements to happenseamlessly.
  • The key result measures are:
Reduction in Sales refurbishment and repair costs (cost to business)Reduction in downtime between sale / rental and delivery of assetContinuous improvement of internal and external customer satisfaction
  • A working knowledge of commercial vehicles including an understanding of parts costs and maintenance times.
  • Experience of commercial body repairs.
  • Basic knowledge level of IT including Excel, Word and outlook.
  • Good Communication skills.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Good time management and able to meet deadlines.
  • Commercially aware to identify efficiency opportunities without compromising quality.
  • Consistently seeks to improve processes.
  • Applicants must be a qualified HGV Technician/Mechanic with a minimum of NVQ level 2 or equivalent.
  • Class 1 preferred but not required.
