Job Description

General Counsel - Renewable EnergyLocation: Flexible, with travel to Bournemouth and LondonJob Type: Part time - ideally 3 days per weekRoleClimate17 are working alongside a leading renewable energy business that fund, develop and manage commercial and residential solar PV systems via Power Purchase Agreements.Owing to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced lawyer to move into a commercial role to oversee contract negotiations with contractors and energy offtake clients across the business.RequirementsTheir ideal candidate will be currently working at a leading law firm or in-house and will either have a background in corporate or property law or perhaps experience with renewable energy, energy, construction, structured or project finance, preferably havinggiven you exposure to transactions in the renewables sector.Experience in negotiating and/or evaluating contracts, preferably including power purchase agreements, property leases and construction contracts is desirable, as is experience in due diligence of energy assets, preferably at the pre-construction phase.

  • Ideally PQE 2+, be commercially minded and able to demonstrate a real drive and passion for the renewables sector.
  • In this role you can expect to assist the COO and our external legaladvisors on:
    • Contract negotiations with PPA off-takers, EPC and O&M contractors
    • Property lease and consent negotiations with landlords and tenants
    • Support acquisition/bid processes on renewable energy projects/assets
    • Manage relationships, instruct and act as main interface with external legal advisors
    • Co-ordinating and supporting due diligence on projects
    • Preparing and negotiating framework agreements, partnership agreements and other ad hoc agreements
