Job Description

The Porter/Cleaner is responsible to The Domestic Facilities Manager, to carry-out any tasks required by the department to ensure the smooth running of the School and to clean designated areas to the required standard.Key responsibilities1. to clean toilet and washroom areas to a satisfactory standard2. to clean classrooms, offices and corridors3. to vacuum carpeted areas, sweep and mop other hard surfaced areas4. to dust and polish5. to dispose of waste rubbish to main refuse area6. to distribute parcels from Reception and Finance Department to areas around the School7. to transport heavy packages between departments8. to move furniture and equipment around the school and sets up furniture for events9. to clear down and clean up after School events10. to help with deliveries of housekeeping stores around the School11. to maintain floors using high speed floor machine or carpet cleaner during School holidays12. to help with security13. to assist with minor fixing and superficial material repairs14. to work on other tasks as directed by the Domestic Facilities ManagerAll staff are responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of students at New Hall School by ensuring compliance with the Schools Safeguarding & Child Protection Policy at all times. It is a requirement of all staff to report any actual or potentialrisks to the safety or welfare of students to the Designated Safeguarding Lead.This document summarises the main responsibilities of the post. All staff are required to undertake whatever else may reasonably be requested by the Principal. The Equal Opportunities Policyis available on the School website.Salary & BenefitsSalaryThe salary for this post is £18,599 per annum (full time equivalent £21,257per annum), together with the generous benefits detailed below.HoursYour normal hours of work will be 6.30am to 2.30pm, Monday to Friday, all-year round. You will be entitled to a one-hour unpaid meal break each day, to be taken as a 30-minute morning break and a 30-minute lunch break.You will be required to participate in a rota to work weekends, as required, to cover School functions. If you work on a Saturday or Sunday, you will be entitled to take time off in lieu during the week. All staff are required to attend relevant INSET (stafftraining) days, for which payment is included in your salary.HolidaysStaff are entitled to 22 days holiday per year, excluding bank holidays. New Hall closes for two days between Christmas and New Year; staff must set aside two days of annual holiday entitlement to allow for this closure. You may be required to work on thesetwo days due to lettings. If you are required to work, two alternative days in lieu will be offered to you.PensionSupport staff are automatically enrolled in the designated stakeholder pension scheme provided by Standard Life, subject to meeting the qualifying conditions. Pension contribution rates are 5% for employees and New Hall currently matches employee contributionsup to 4%.TrainingNew Hall is committed to professional development of staff and will support further in-service training as required. There are generous INSET and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) budgets.Sports membershipAs an employee, you are able to make use of an annual membership rate for the New Hall Sports Club, with effect from your start date. The staff rate is currently £20pa and £5pa for additional family members. Membership includes Club time use of: 25-metre, 6 lane indoor swimming pool 10 floodlit tennis/netball courts Fitness Suite, which comprises a range of cardiovascular equipment and free weights Athletics track 12 golf practice bays
