Band 5 Staff Nurse - Critical Care An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the busy critical care team working at Heartlands Hospital and Good Hope Hospital which form part of University Hospitals Birmingham Trust as a Registered Nurse.Under the specialty of Critical Care we have the following departments within our state of the art facility:Birmingham Heartlands Hospital – An 11 bedded General Critical Care Unit and 8 bedded High dependency Unit specialising in Thoracic Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Acute Nephrology, Haematology and Infectious Diseases.Good Hope Hospital – A 12 bedded flexible General Critical Care/High dependency unit specialising in Cytoreductive Surgery and Breast Reconstruction Surgery.Experience in Critical Care is desirable; however we also invite applications from nurses with transferable experience in an acute care setting, and newly qualified nurses who demonstrate the standards and attributes required for the post.All successful candidates will benefit from an orientation and induction programme run by our established Education team which consists of bedside facilitators supported by our Critical Care Educators. Staff follow an education pathway, which is competency based (using the Critical Care national competency framework) and will have the opportunity to undertake a Critical Care course in conjunction with a University.Staff rotate between Heartlands Hospital and Good hope Hospital, to enable nurses to develop competencies in each specialty. All recruits will provide a 24 hour service including days, nights and weekends. Shifts are 11.5 hours within a 12.5 hour working day/night.Our unit is exciting and supportive where you will have the opportunity to work as part of a highly skilled, dynamic and friendly team.
