Job Description

Job Title: General Class TeacherLocation: Morpeth NE61Contract Type: Full Time/ Fixed Term (until Aug 2025)Pay Scale: 150-190 GBP per day. (paid according to PayScale)As a SEN Teacher, you will be paid Salary + SEN Allowance.Responsibilities:

  • To be responsible for the education and welfare of a designated group of pupils all of whom have special educational needs, in accordance with the requirements of the DfES Conditions of Employment for school teachers; the National Curriculum; the schoolmission and aims; schemes of work and any policies adopted by the Governing Body of the school.
  • To define IEPs for all pupils and to share these with the Teaching Assistants so that they can fulfil their role.
  • To plan in partnership with the Teaching Assistants to enable them to fulfil their role.
  • To fulfil administrative functions to support effective teaching and learning and assessment recording and reporting procedures.
  • To exercise pastoral care
  • To share in the corporate responsibility for the wellbeing and discipline of all pupils
  • To contribute to the corporate life of the school
  • To work co-operatively and collaboratively with other members of staff.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Qualified Teacher status (QTS) OR PGCE OR Equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience in achieving outstanding outcomes.
  • Thorough working knowledge of the curriculum and how to adapt this for pupils with SEN Experience of working with young people with ASD.
  • Understanding of the Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures.
  • Ability to create and maintain strong nurturing relationships with young people.
  • Experience of managing a range of approaches to learning, to include the students with anxiety.
  • Knowledge of strategies and visual teaching methods to engage reluctant learners.
  • A flexible approach, a high-level creativity, and the ability to adapt teaching to meet individual needs.
