Job Description

We are looking to recruit for an experienced Senior Buyer into our established client based in Blackwood.The role:

  • To ensure the most cost effective and efficient inflow of materials and services through the application of purchasing best practice in accordance with operating principles.
  • Review and contribute to the delivery of personal, departmental, and business metrics and KPIs.
  • Provide cover and act as DOA for Procurement Manager when required.
  • Develop and drive the development of Procurement excellence.
  • Management of a team of Buyers and Assistant buyers whilst being accountable and responsible for all site specific Direct and Indirect Procurement including people performance management, people development and holidays.
  • Development and continual improvement of strategic relationships through the supplier relationship and performance management framework.
  • Development and continual improvement of sustainable procurement practices/framework.
  • Departmental contribution lead for budget, tactical and strategic planning.
  • Lead various procurement activities, consolidating, rationalising, and aligning suppliers and appropriate methodologies for all the supply chain challenges.
  • Contribute to Group procurement plans.
Skills:
  • CIPS qualified or working towards
  • Full Driving License required.
  • IT/Computer literacy - advanced level in Microsoft i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Contract management and supplier experience
  • Fully conversant with modern procurement and purchasing techniques.
  • Experience of working with MRP, MRPII or ERP systems
  • Minimum 5 years previous experience in a Purchasing role
  • Supervisory experience
  • Negotiation experience with a proven track record of controlling and reducing external spend whilst developing a robust supplier base.
Company offers a fantastic working environment with some Hybrid working excellent benefits.Hours are 8.30-4.40 Mon - Thursday with an early finish on a Friday 13
