Job Description

This position offers permanent employment directly with the company from day one.

  1. Overview:
The Technician will operate within our clients production facility and will play a crucial role in ensuring the effective operation of the Moulding department within a safety-focused environment.
  1. Key Responsibilities:
To excel in this role, an individual must fulfill each essential duty according to company standards. The following requirements represent the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Take overall responsibility for managing direct reporting staff, machinery, production, and quality targets, ensuring smooth and efficient production processes throughout the shift.
  • Oversee the quality and output of products during the shift, aligning with the companys quality systems and procedures.
  • Identify opportunities and actively participate in the companys continuous improvement plan for future growth.
  • Collaborate with Managers, Operatives, and Section Leaders to meet training requirements for current and future shift demands.
  • Ensure effective communication at all organizational levels, both verbally and in writing.
  • Manage, develop, and motivate direct reporting staff with support from the Section Leader.
  • Maintain Health and Safety, discipline, service, cost, and productivity performance in line with Company policies during the shift.
  • Handle fire evacuation and accident recording and investigation on the shift if an incident occurs.
  • Work closely with the Section Leader and other Technicians to facilitate effective production handovers and communicate relevant issues.
  • Safely mount and secure Injection Moulding Tools into machines using specified tools and company procedures.
  • Set up and operate Injection Moulding machines and associated equipment to achieve consistent production to approved standards.
  • Maintain machine cleanliness and hygiene as part of general housekeeping.
  • Perform tool and color changes as needed and assist with clearing the line before and after production runs.
  • Conduct first-line diagnostics and fault finding.
  • Work towards achieving Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Produce initial parts that meet Quality Plan and Master Sample requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and accurately diagnose process faults.
  • Contribute to pFMEA, Control plans, and other quality-driven exercises.
  • Assist with 5S, Lean, and Continuous Improvement initiatives within the company.
  • Fulfill any other duties as required by the company.
  • Comply with rules outlined in the company handbook, including all policies and procedures.
  • Work on a 3-shift system (6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm, 10pm-6am) unless otherwise specified.
  1. Performance Expectations:
Establish and maintain regular feedback through reporting for all areas of responsibility to ensure continuous and efficient operation within the organization.
  1. Work Environment:
The Technician will work in both office and production areas of the factory and must use appropriate personal protective equipment as specified in line with our Occupational Health and Safety requirements, adhering to all Health and Safety procedures.
  1. Skills, Experience, and Personal Attributes:
  • Demonstrated prior experience in precision tool setting.
  • Proficiency in machine/robot operation and relevant Microsoft Office programs.
  • Results-oriented and capable of working independently within a team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a track record of root cause analysis.
  • Ability to maintain attention to detail when working under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Capable of managing and motivating a team.
  • A keen interest in emerging technologies.
  • Sound knowledge of associated processes, applications, and procedures.
  • Willingness to take ownership of personal development and undergo relevant training to meet the Companys needs.
  1. Formal Qualifications:
Candidates must have completed a relevant technical qualification. Suitable experience may be considered in lieu of a formal qualification where applicable.Technicians are required to have a working proficiency in English and Mathematics.Salary: £34,944 per yearShift and Schedule:Three shifts, Monday to Friday, rotating weekly (6-2/2-10/10-6), working five days per week.
