Job Description

We are looking to welcome two Hydrant Maintenance Technicians into our diverse and high performing service based in Leicester. You will join us on a Full Time, Permanent basis (37 hours per week. In addition, you will be asked to work 4 Sunday mornings per year) and in return you will receive a competitive salary of £25,119 - £27,803 per annum.Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service are not limited to firefighting. We also respond to a wide range of incidents, increasingly those that involve our rescue capability.We also work closely with other emergency services and our localauthority partners to deliver an emergency response and protect our communities.Benefits you will receive:

TheHydrant Maintenance Technician role:We have two positions available to become a key member of a small hydrant maintenance team, working across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland testing and maintaining fire hydrants within the public highway. This equipment (fire hydrants) is a criticalpart in the delivery of water for firefighting.As our Hydrant Maintenance Technician, you will need to be able to think fast and be confident working in a busy outdoor environment, driving between areas, start early to avoid busy traffic routes, risk assessing fire hydrant locationsbefore any maintenance work is undertaken. Use equipment to ensure the fire hydrant is available to use and report faults as required. Delivery FRS fire hydrant inspection program for existing locations and visit new developments throughout the county.What we are looking for in our Hydrant Maintenance Technician:We’re looking for a level-headed, enthusiastic, and proactive individual, who can work outdoors preferably with a background in working within the public highway. You’ll need to have a good understanding and knowledge of Health and Safety and the abilityto assess the environment you are working in. Excellent communication skills as you need to liaise with contractors, fire service personnel and the public.
