Job Description

Company Background:Our client is one of the largest building product suppliers in the UK, with an estimated annual turnover of over £350million. The business specialises in the production of bricks, and supplies to hundreds of construction companies UK and worldwide.This specific plant specialises in the manufacturing of Thermalite blocks, which involves a complex and bespoke process. The machinery requires both planned and reactive maintenance.Role Breakdown:The role will require the successful candidate to control the management of all site assets, specifically concerning the Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) System. Their remit will also include the planning of maintenance shutdown periods, ordering sparesfor planned refits and to maintain stocks, and supporting the production operation. The system must be run competently and efficiently, and needs to adhere to legal and company requirements for employee Health and Safety and quality standards at all times. Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing, maintaining, and controlling the preventative maintenance plans. Ensuring the plans run to schedule by prioritising and issuing work orders incorporating labour and materials planning. Liaising with production and engineering and chair weeklyplanning meetings.
  • Developing, maintaining, and controlling the CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System) on site, including maintaining the asset register and checking data integrity and accuracy
  • Managing and optimising the effectiveness of the work order process
  • Maintenance strategyEnsuring that the strategic elements of maintenance planning are integrated into the planning operation
  • Ensuring service contracts are carried out according to description with zero impact on the site, whilst ensuring records are kept and their effectiveness reviewed
  • Maintenance spares availability - Setting up and effective operation of maintenance stores, ordering and maintaining spare part stocks and expediting shortages or emergency needs
  • Analysing and reporting of CMMS system including all Engineering KPIs and life cycle costs of assets
  • Ensuring that the HS&E elements of the maintenance operation are followed
  • Assisting in the management of contractors ensuring contractors comply with company health and safety policies and insurance indemnity forms. Method statements and risk assessments are completed prior to commencement of work
Ideal Candidate:The ideal candidate must have the following attributes, in order to be successful in this application:
  • ONC/HNC/HND/degree in appropriate engineering subject
  • Have excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience in CMMSs (Computerised Maintenance Management Systems) is essential
