North West Based£35000 + Company Vehicle includedFull time, Permanent, 37.5hrsHere at Serco we work with Asylum Accommodation and Support Services to assist individuals through the asylum system, which includes providing them with temporary accommodation. As one of our Gas Breakdown Engineer, you’ll provide specialist guidance and advice as we maintain and repair this housing, making sure it’s safe and in good working condition.Taking responsibility for your own area as well as supporting others when required, you’ll work with our field operations team in identifying and fixing gas faults, as well as providing ongoing maintenance tasks. Sometimes you’ll carry the work out yourself and sometimes you’ll use 3rd party suppliers – but in all cases you’ll make sure that it’s done on time and to safety, legal, contract and cost standards. Throughout the process you’ll also ensure that all paperwork and documentation is completed and that everything is coordinated with our administration team and Gas Team Manager.And whilst you’re out there preparing housing for some of the most vulnerable people in society, we’ll be supporting you. As well as ongoing development, training and accreditation we’ll make sure you have all the tools you need along with your uniform, company vehicle, and trade and fuel cards.What you need to do the jobFirst and foremost you’ll need to be a gas qualified engineer with proof of ongoing accreditation and certification. Once in role you’ll also need to be prepared for further trade-related training to ensure your qualifications remain in-date. Our teams are close-knit and supportive and you may find yourself helping out with other maintenance tasks, so knowledge of buildings maintenance is also important.In order for us to provide a fully compliant service, there may be a requirement to be on-call outside of normal working hours, which will be part of an agreed roster and in accordance with local Serco processes.
