Job Description

Robert Walters: Public Sector Division - Financial Controller - Permanent - North Birmingham - £50,000 to £54,000 per annumCurrently, I have a fantastic opportunity for a Financial Controller to be the number two in a success charitable organisation. This is a great opportunity for any candidate with Statutory Accounts experience to progress within the organisation.Role Type: PermanentLocation: North BirminghamJob Title: Financial ControllerSalary: £50,000 to £54,000 per annum plus packageWorking: Office based with flexible workingSector: Education or charity background preferred but candidates from other backgrounds will be considered with statutory reporting experienceQualification: ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA - EssentialDuties of the Financial Controller:

  • Lead meetings with Financial Business Partners and Academy Business Managers regularly (CFOO will be in attendance)
  • Contribute to strategic planning and decision-making
  • Ensure appropriate procedures and controls are in place
  • Attend meetings to present financial budgets and other financial information as required
  • Contribute to the achievement of organisation vision and to support improvement accordingly
  • Manage the timely and accurate production of monthly management accounts and consolidated reports
  • Ensure annual budgets are produced in a timely and consistent manner
  • Hold monthly meetings with Finance Business Partners, Academy Business Managers, Heads of Department to discuss financial performance and forecasts; including embedding appropriate KPIs and benchmarking
  • Consolidation work as required, including but not limited to monthly management accounts
  • Manage the central cost centre budget.
  • Ensure appropriate balance sheet controls take place and reviews are undertaken frequently across
  • Handle Payroll reconciliations on a monthly basis and postings to ledger are accurate
  • Manage the day to day central finance operations (e.g. treasury, banking, purchase invoices, debt collection) and the line management of 1 Finance Officer who has responsibility for 1 Finance Assistant
  • Deal with day to day relationship with the 2 Finance Business Partners
  • Completing annual performance reviews and setting of objectives
  • Provide technical support to the Finance Business Partners when required
  • Offering professional judgement on financial matters and advising on ways on improving the Trusts financial performance
  • Providing information to aid key strategic decision making and business strategies (including contract reviews)
  • Responsibility for the use and maintenance of financial information systems including Monitoring and evaluating systems to deliver continued improvement.
  • Assist with the implementation of Curriculum Led Financial Planning
  • Prepare cash-flow forecasts and balance sheets to ensure that cash positions are consistent with their obligations and to invest surpluses prudently
