Job Description

With engaging stories to tell, theres alwayssomething to share with our visitors, and it will be you job to make sure were doing that all year round.This role is based on annualised hours, where the amount of hours you work each month may vary, however your salary will be paid in 12 equal instalments over the year.The salary advertised is inclusive of £2,828 Outer London Weighting allowance per annum. What its like to work here Red House and Carlyles House are a part of a portfolio of five properties, including Ham House, Fenton House and 2 Willow Road. Working with us will give you a valuable opportunity to build networks, consult and share practices with many regional colleagues. What youll be doing As a Visitor Experience Officer, youll be responsible for the delivery of effective interpretation, youll develop engaging and meaningful interpretation that can teach, move and inspire our visitors.Understanding how and why we engage our supporters is key. Working with our spirit of place, youll work with the visitor welcome team to link everything we do back to our cause and the on-going work we do. Youll deliver high standards of presentation atthe properties, and ensure all our communications with our visitors, from the first click on the website, to the posters and signs around the property are clear and consistent. As a champion of exceptional visitor experiences, youll join a high performingteam and will regularly be involved in the duty management rota helping run the visitor operation.This is an annualised role across Red House & Carlyles House, during the main season (March - October) with a suggested working pattern of Wednesdays at Carlyles, Fridays & Saturdays at Red House. The remaining hours will be worked across the year, withthe winter season being 1-2 days a week.Please also read the full role profile attached to this advert. Who were looking for Its a significant role at a busy property and we need someone who can take on a challenge. To deliver this role successfully, youll need to have:

  • Good communication skills
  • Experience of working to multiple deadlines and managing own workload
  • Good organisational skills
  • Understanding of the aims and ethos of the National Trust
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • IT skills - Microsoft Office, as well as web and social media applications
  • Experience of producing interpretation, marketing or promotional material
  • Knowledge of relevant Health & Safety procedures
