We support fund managers, global companies, family offices and private clients operating worldwide.Job DescriptionThe Technical Team is an independent team of experts within IQ-EQ providing technical and regulatory assistance / advice to global client services (CS) teams, sales and implementation teams, and global clients.The core part of Technical Team work is focused on 3 key areas, Technical Advisory (technical accounting and PE/RE industry / regulatory related queries, technical support to sales and implementation team for new clients etc), Technical Reviews (technical/ quality reviews of financials, key accounting policies and other complex deliverables) and Technical Updates (monitoring latest accounting, industry and regulatory updates; issuing technical alerts for internal teams and clients; delivering technical presentationsand other specific training modules for accounting teams).To facilitate the delivery of the 3 key areas effectively to the stakeholders, a Technical Team member will be at the forefront of the private equity and real estate fund industry developments, including but not limited to financial reporting.Day to day:Advisory and support

• Resolve technical accounting queries raised by Client Services (CS) teams and clients in a timely manner
• Provide technical support to sales and implementation teams for prospective and/or new clients
• Oversee the review of financial statements and other deliverables, including quality reviews, to ensure high product quality of CS output
• Whilst main focus is on IFRS and UK GAAP, there are opportunities to develop experience in other GAAPs e.g. US GAAP, Lux GAAP
• Support the IQ-EQ business by challenging and suggesting ways that the Opportunities to work with senior management on operational and strategic projects
• Effectively communicate and present technical accounting information to CS teams and provide the companys view on technical accounting issues to senior client staff and auditors
• Prepare and review carried interest / waterfall models, assist with implementation of automation projects
• Assist with reviews of operational aspects of constitutive fund documents
• Manage Technical Accountants who are based in Belfast and work closely with Technical Team members in other global locations

Technical resources

• Oversee the collection of technical and operational knowledge, and the in-house library of technical journals, articles and documentation relating to accounting issues
• Monitor latest accounting / legislative changes impacting our clients and draft technical updates for accounting / legislative changes accordingly for release internally to CS teams as well as externally to global clients
• Develop and deliver (quarterly) Technical presentations to update CS teams on accounting and PE industry developments

Learning and development

• Develop and deliver technical accounting training presentations and other workshops or learning sessions
• Identify areas in which the CS teams require additional support, either for specific clients or on a broader basis, and suggest appropriate remedial action (controls, tools)
• Maintain personal CPD through in-house training attendance as well as external courses or seminars

Qualifications

• University degree in Accountancy/Business/Maths
• ACA or ACCA Qualified Accountant 3+ years post-qual
• 3+ years of financial services management experience, preferably Big4 or financial services sector
• Strong accounting standards knowledge, experience working directly with different accounting standards e.g. IFRS/UK/US GAAP
• Strong experience in preparation and review of Financial Statements including disclosures
• Private Equity and/or Real Estate funds knowledge (closed ended funds / open ended funds / hedge funds) (preferable)
• Experience working on financial modelling (e.g. carried interest models, forecasting models) (desirable)
• Intermediate to advanced excel skills
• Experience with financial computations
• Experience communicating with senior client staff and management / executive staff
• Team / people management experience and training / mentoring members of a team
• Experience of conducting training (preferable)
